Daily Discard
The Daily Discard is about throwing stuff out. It’s a spiritual quest to simplify life. Each day I find something around the house which is no longer needed, doesn’t work any more, has outlived its purpose or is just plain junk. Then I throw it away or give it away.

Spice Rack
It's been sitting in the kitchen cupboard for two years. This wooden spice rack has a McCormick brand label on it. They sell spices and Aeroplane Jelly.I'll leave it out on the footpath. Someone will take it.

Footie Beanie

In 2005 Sydney Football Club played West Coast Eagles in the AFL Grand Final. I went to function to watch the game and, because I don't support either club, I chose West Coast to barrack for.
So I bought this blue and yellow beanie to wear for the day. West Coast lost and don't need the beanie any more.

Multi Vitamins

As you can see, the use-by date on this jar of Sustained Release Multi Vitamins and Minerals is July 2001. Why is it still in the cupboard?
In the bin with it!

Scaf

This is a scarf , although it could be mistaken for a bar towel.
It's a promotional thing from work. They were given out to clients at the launch of one our products. The launch was held at the minus 5 bar in Sydney. A realy 'cool' bar made entirely from ice. So the patrons needed as scarf to stay warm. There were some scarves left over so were given to staff. I'll never wear it. But Alex from work wears his every day under his motorbike helmet.
I'll put it out in the Salvo bin.

Magazine

I have no idea why this apc magazine has been sitting in the bookcase since April 2004. I don't remember buying it, and I don't buy computer magazines any more.
It'll go in the bin.
Cap

I bought this cap at the Fremantle E Shed Markets during our trip to Perth in August. It was a great sunny day I hadn't brought one with me.
I don't particuarly like the black and yellow design. I now have another (plain black) cap. So I don't need this one.

Calendar

I know it's early to be throwing out 2006 calendars, but this one has not been hanging up anywhere. It might as well go out now.
It is the 2006 Big Issue calendar.

Padlock

I don't know how this lock attached to a chain ended up in the table drawer near the front door. I don't have a key for it. (No, it wasn't the ones I threw out on 2nd November 2006)
Fragrence Bottle
This little porous bottle is meant to hold fragrant oil and slowly release the scent. It hung from the rear view mirror of my car for along while emanating Vata Therapeutic Aroma oil. This was calming and very pleasant. It tended to overcome the vata aggravation caused by travel.
Now the bottle had its day. It's oily and sticky on the outside and leaking.
Too bad. I know they sell similar bottles at the St Kilda Esplanade Market on Sundays.
